Speech Enablement

This site is speech-enabled using the Browsealoud service.

What is Browsealoud?

Browsealoud is a service that allows the content on this Website to be highlighted and read aloud. A small plug-in is downloaded from the Browsealoud Website and installed on the client PC - this then activates the speech functionality. Browsealoud is designed to increase the accessibility of the information on this site for sections of the population which may have difficulty with reading standard text-based Websites, for example:

  • Where English is not the first language.
  • Any individual with dyslexia.
  • Mild visual impairment.
  • Low literacy and reading skills.

Using Browsealoud on your computer

The Browsealoud plug-in can be downloaded from the Browsealoud Website, which also has full instructions for installing and using the plug-in.

Browsealoud is a Windows application designed for use with Internet Explorer 5.5, Netscape Navigator 7, and Mozilla 1.7.3 upwards.
