Legal Services consists of two discrete sections - core Legal Services and the Coroners’ Officer Unit.
Legal Services is the principal arm and aims to:
- Provide clear, accurate and practical legal advice across agreed areas of law.
- Minimise the exposure of the Force to adverse criticism and legal claims by ensuring that the Force’s activities conform to current legislation.
- Actively investigate and deal with all civil claims brought against the Chief Constable.
The Coroners’ Officer Unit provides support to HM Coroners for Teesside and Hartlepool.
