About Operational Performance Team

The Operational Performance Team (OPT) promotes efficiency and effectiveness through the assessment and inspections of core functions within the organisation and supports the executive team in ensuring that: performance is improved; good practice is spread across the Force and standards are agreed, achieved and maintained.  The team also provides advice and support and plays a key role in the development of improvement initiatives.

OPT liaises with all police districts and service units at strategic and tactical levels regarding performance matters, reviewing, developing and promoting continuous improvement activities.

The aims of the team are to improve Force performance through:

  • Analysis of performance data
  • Development of Force and local improvement initiatives
  • Promotion of continuous improvement
  • Carrying out of performance related project work
  • Coaching and support
  • Carrying out performance audits, inspections and reviews
  • Supporting the executive in police district Monthly Performance Reviews
  • Interventions
  • Liaison with external agencies and partners.
