Safety Camera Partnership

The Cleveland Safety Camera Partnership is a casualty reduction initiative

The Cleveland Safety Camera Partnership (SCP) was formed in April 2000 between Cleveland Police, Cleveland Magistrates, and Hartlepool, Redcar and Cleveland, Stockton and Middlesbrough Borough councils.

The Partnership uses a number of initiatives to improve road safety and reduce road risk posed by traffic, including:

  • Education
  • Encouragement
  • Engineering
  • Enforcement

The Cleveland Safety Camera Partnershipmonitors speed and prioritises deployment of mobile cameras.

Response to requests involves a fortnight's rigorous enforcement at the site and then review of the data. If it proves to be only a perceived rather than a real speed problem then the data is passed on to the relevant council to deal with; otherwise the site will be considered for future mobile camera deployment by the partnership.
