Police are appealing for information after a 4ft Milk Snake was stolen from an animal sanctuary on Church Road in Stockton.
The incident happened during the early hours of Thursday 4th March 2010.
The snake, which is black and red, was taken from the premises in a large glass tank, but a vital heat pad which is essential to the snake’s survival was left behind.
Commenting on the theft PC Simon Rowney said: “I would appeal for anyone with any information to please come forward as soon as possible. The heat pad that has been left at the premises is vital to the snake’s survival and could result in the unnecessary death of the animal. This animal also needs to be handled by someone with experience so I would also urge anyone that might come across the snake to avoid handling it.”
Anyone with any information is asked to please call PC Simon Rowney at Stockton Police on 01642 302226. Alternatively contact the charity Crimestoppers in confidence on 0800 555 111.
