Operation Safer Communities

Following on from the recent knife amnesty in Cleveland, an operation was conducted in March 2009, in which a metal detector was set up at the main entrance to Middlesbrough College (with all other entrances being temporarily closed).

everyone attending the college had to walk through the metal detector, ensuring no-one entering the college was in possession of offensive weapons. This was organised to provide public reassurance, enforcing the message that carrying weapons is an offence and as such, will not be tolerated.
