A three part anti-social behaviour and crime reduction campaign in North Ormesby and Brambles Farm began this week.
Neighbourhood Policing Team 2(NPT 2) officers have joined forces with several agencies*, including the Council’s Neighbourhood Safety Team, in a bid to spruce up the area and get residents involved in local issues.
The North Ormesby week runs all this week with the Neighbourhood Safety Team’s trailer parked up outside the Trinity Centre today and on the market square tomorrow.
Also on Wednesday the Trinity Centre is holding a teddy bear themed day with bears being parachuted from the church tower and other events taking place inside and outside the centre.
The Youth & Community Centre holds an open day on Wednesday afternoon and on Thursday and Friday police and their partners will be knocking on residents’ doors to ask about the issues which concern them.
PC Andrew Hampson of NPT2 said: “The aim of this campaign is twofold: firstly to encourage residents and people working in this ward to take pride in the community they live and work in, and secondly to promote the work we and our partners are doing and to let the community know about the work we plan to do.
“There’s plenty going on this week and we hope residents will get involved. We have other events planned for later in the year – one to coincide with North Ormesby carnival on Sunday 1st August and a Brambles Farm campaign in November.”
*Agencies taking part include Cleveland Police NPT2, Middlesbrough Borough Council, Erimus Housing, Cleveland Fire Brigade, Derwent Street Youth & Community Centre, Kickz, North Ormesby Primary School, St Alphonsus Primary School, Trinity Centre, North Ormesby Development Trust.
