Helicopter

The helicopter, based at Durham Tees Valley airport, supports numerous areas of operational policing and is equipped with thermal imaging cameras for locating criminals and missing people. It is a known fact that it takes the equivalent of 454 officer hours to search an area that a helicopter can do in 12 minutes.

This page is intended to provide basic information to the general public regarding the work of the police helicopter and will be updated on a daily basis. Weekend and public holiday updates will appear on the next working day.
