Overview

Cleveland Police Cadets is a voluntary youth programme open to young people across Cleveland aged 13 to 17 years.

  • Each group of 24 Cadets  meet one evening a week across Cleveland, usually in a youth or community centre or a school.
  • Groups are run by  Police Officers, Police Community Support Officers, Youth Workers and Volunteers.
  • Free uniforms will be provided after a 6 week probationary period.
  • Cadets will learn and explore basic police-related skills through exciting, challenging and interactive workshops
  • Memory skills and self-discipline will be developed through foot/parade drill practice
  • Cadets will develop communication skills by taking part in Safer Neighbourhood activities such as property marking, leaflet drops.
  • Team working skills will be developed through  a variety of volunteering opportunities at local community events.
  • Cadets will strengthen their leadership skills by progressing through the cadet rank system and becoming Leaders or Assistant Leaders
  • Cadets will build a portfolio of achievement and gaining recognised qualifications, such as Duke of Edinburgh Award, First Aid.
  • Throughout School Holidays there will be a number of cross unit fun activities including a regular Summer Camp where Cadets will get to meet other Cadets from across Cleveland.
