  • CCTV Image Released Following a Purse Theft

Police are appealing for information after an 86-year-old woman had her purse stolen, possibly from inside Lidl in Thornaby Town Centre.

The incident occurred on Friday 3rd March between 12pm-1pm when the victim checked her bag and realised her purse was missing.

It is believed her bank card was then used by someone else and £200 was withdrawn from her bank account at a cashpoint.

Officers would like the man seen in the CCTV footage to come forward as he may be able to assist with enquiries.
The man is described as being a white male with a bald head on top with short hair round the sides. He was wearing a dark jacket, blue jeans and carrying a bag.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or anyone with information regarding the man shown in the photo is asked to contact Detective Constable Peter Young on the non-emergency number 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
