Police are appealing for information after a report of an attempted rape in Thornaby.

The incident occurred at 11:30pm on Scarborough Street in Thornaby on Monday 24th August involving a 27 year old female victim.

It is believed two men are responsible for the incident and they are described as being of Asian appearance and in their mid-20s. One male was wearing all black clothing and the other male was wearing a red t shirt.

Investigating Officer, Detective Inspector Louise Sproson said: “This has been a terrifying ordeal for the victim and she has been extremely brave by working with officers to help us trace the people responsible.

“Extra officers have been patrolling this area of Thornaby and officers have been conducting door to door enquiries as well as investigating a number of other lines of inquiry.

“We would urge anyone who may have sighted the males prior to or after the incident or anyone with information regarding those responsible to contact Cleveland Police on 101 as a matter of urgency.”

Any witnesses or anyone with private CCTV/ dash cam footage in the time/ area of the incident is asked to contact Stockton CID on the non-emergency number 101, quoting event number 138571.
