A dispersal order will be put in place from 3pm today, Wednesday 23rd August, in the area of Vaughan Shops in Park End, Middlesbrough, after reports of increased antisocial behaviour (ASB).
The ASB has involved large groups of youths, which is having an adverse impact on local businesses and members of the public.
The dispersal order gives police the power to order groups to leave the area immediately for a period of up to 48 hours, and if they return to the area they can be arrested for breaching the order. This can also be extended beyond this period.
The order covers any public place in the area bounded by Fulbeck Road and Fosdyke Green.
Acting Inspector Daniel Oldroyd, from Middlesbrough Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “Dispersal orders give us the power to remove large groups who are causing issues for our local residents and businesses from the area and if they return they will be arrested for breaching the order. High visibility patrols will be carried out in the area and any antisocial behaviour won’t be tolerated.”
