Man arrested and knife seized following stop search in Stockton

Officers carrying out proactive patrols in Stockton recovered a knife following a stop search of a man and a woman on Grangefield Road.
After searching the man, officers located a knife and he was subsequently arrested on suspicion of possessing a bladed article.
He has since been bailed pending further enquiries.
Stop and search powers are a vital tool to help make the local community safer by preventing and detecting crime.
Officers will only exercise their legal right to stop members of the public and search them when they genuinely suspect that doing so will further their investigations into criminal activity.
