As the Christmas drink and drug driving campaign continues throughout Cleveland, officers charged a man and woman and arrested a number of others on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs this weekend.
Over 1500 drivers have been tested throughout the campaign so far and officers have found that the majority of people checked for alcohol or drugs whilst behind the wheel have not been over the drink/drug drive limit, and want to thank those people who driven responsibly and within the law.
140 breath tests were carried out in Hartlepool on Friday 8th December, 184 tests were carried out on Saturday 9th December in Redcar and a further 160 tests were carried out in Marton and Redcar on Sunday 10th December.
Checks were also carried out near Newport Bridge in Middlesbrough this morning, Monday 11th December.
