Middlesbrough Proactive Team responded to an unusual heat source at a residential address on Wellesley Road in Middlesbrough this morning, Friday 22 December.
The suspicious heat was picked up by the police drone when it was deployed in the area on an unrelated matter. Officers forced entry to the property and uncovered a large cannabis farm inside.
Police seized 422 plants thought to be worth around £355,000.
Those cultivating the plants were using dangerous electricals, posing a potentially life-threatening fire risk to neighbouring properties.
No suspects were located inside of the property, and police enquiries are continuing to find those responsible.
Those with concerns regarding drugs being grown in neighbouring properties are urged to contact Police on 101, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, or download the COPA app to provide details.
