Police are in the Laycock Street area of Middlesbrough after being called there by ambulance service colleagues just after 3.10pm today (Friday 15th December).
A 45-year-old man had been injured and was treated at James Cook University Hospital before being released.
A 46-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is in custody facing questioning.
It is not currently believed there is any risk to the wider public and officers remain in the area conducting further enquiries - as well as offering a reassuring presence.
Anyone with information, doorbell, dashcam or private CCTV which could help our investigation is asked to contact Cleveland Police on the 101 number quoting ref 245187.
