Officers from Middlesbrough Neighbourhood Policing Team seized cannabis from two men after a vehicle was stopped in the town.
On the evening of Sunday 19th February, officers stopped a Volkwagen Golf on St Barnabas Road and searched two male occupants and recovered a quantity of cannabis. Both were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class B drugs.
A 20-year-old man has since been bailed pending further enquiries and an 18-year-old man has been released under investigation.
PC Waugh said: “We will relentlessly target those who supply drugs in our communities. We will use every method available to us to identify and prosecute them.
“This incident is a great example of how effective stop and search can be in tackling crime.
“I would urge anyone with information on criminal activity to contact police via 101, or anonymously via Crimestoppers at www.crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling 0800 555 111.”
