The 14-year-old boy was in a bus stop - just after Broadwell Road and opposite James Cook University Hospital - and was waiting to cross Marton Road when he was in collision with an unknown passing vehicle, causing him to fall to the ground.
The boy was taken to James Cook University Hospital where he was detained for treatment.
Anyone with information or dashcam regarding this incident from 8pm on Friday 30th December is asked to contact Cleveland Police on the 101 number, quoting ref 234148.
