A 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs after officers stopped a vehicle in Eston.
Officers from Eston Neighbourhood Policing Team received concerns from local residents that the vehicle may be being used to commit crime and carried out patrols around 3pm on Thursday 19th January to locate it.
A short time later, they located and searched the vehicle which was found in the Eston area.
Officers recovered drugs, believed to be crack cocaine and heroin, along with a quantity of cash and mobile phones from the vehicle.
The arrested man has since been bailed pending further enquiries.
Temporary Inspector Ian Mitchell said: “Eston Neighbourhood Team listened to information provided by local residents and were proactive in their response.
“The team will continue to target those criminals that attempt to supply drugs into the area. Our focus is to target the criminals and to protect the most vulnerable in the communities we serve.
“Information from the public about drug dealing plays an important role in enabling us to build intelligence and proactively target criminals and organised crime gangs.
“If you have any information about drugs or other criminality in our area, we would encourage you to report it to us by calling 101 or through the online reporting on our website or via the Police and Crime Commissioner’s COPA app.”
