Vehicle Recovered and Boy Arrested after Alleged Burglary

Police recovered a suspected stolen vehicle and arrested a 15-year-old boy after it was allegedly stolen in a 2-in-1 burglary in Redcar.
The suspected stolen vehicle, a Range Rover, was reportedly stolen between 10:30pm on Tuesday 11th January and 11am on Wednesday 12th January.
An off-duty officer spotted the suspected stolen Range Rover around 1:15am this morning, Friday 13th January, travelling along the A174 at speed and it was then followed by officers on the Coast Road and on to Marske High Street.
After a short pursuit the Range Rover collided with metal railings and the driver ran off but was detained with the help of officers from Cleveland Police Dog Unit.
The driver, a 15-year-old boy, was arrested on suspicion of burglary, dangerous driving, failing to stop and assault on an emergency worker, after allegedly spitting at the arresting officer.
The boy was also later arrested on suspicion of failing to provide a sample of breath.
He remains in police custody at this time.
