Police are appealing to trace a child after a report was made to officers of a robbery by a member of the public.
A report was made that a male child possibly around 10-15 years old was approached by a male who produced a knife and took a bottle of water from the child.
The incident happened around 7:50am on Thursday 20th July on Ormesby Road near to Unity City Academy/the TAD Centre.
Officers are appealing to locate the child in order to check on his welfare and speak to him about the reported incident.
A 39-year-old man has been charged with possession of a knife in a public place and possession of an offensive weapon. He is due to appear at Teesside Magistrates Court today (Friday 21st July).
Anyone with information regarding the identity of the child is asked to contact Redcar and Cleveland CID on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 142889.
