Police are appealing for witnesses to an assault which occurred on Thursday 15th June on the riverside near the Princess Diana Bridge in Stockton.
The incident happened just before 9pm when a 48-year-old man suffered facial injuries when he was hit in the face. The victim was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees and he remains in hospital receiving medical treatment.
A 61-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and he remains in police custody at this time.
Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or anyone with information is asked to contact Cleveland Police on 101, quoting incident number 116173.
