Police are appealing for witnesses after a 74-year-old woman suffered serious injuries in a collision in Eston.
The collision involved the female pedestrian and a black Volkswagen Touareg, and happened on Guisborough Court around 4:15pm yesterday, Monday 20th November.
The woman was taken to James Cook University Hospital with serious head injuries, where she remains whilst receiving treatment.
The male driver of the vehicle, aged 37, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving a vehicle whilst unfit through drugs. He remains in police custody at this time.
Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or anyone who may have seen the manner of driving of the vehicle prior to the collision, to contact them on 101, quoting incident reference number 230017.
