Detectives are appealing to identify a man (pictured) in connection with an incident where a 14-year-old boy was assaulted.
The incident happened around 6:20pm on Tuesday 31st October (Halloween) in the vicinity of Kenmore Road and Roworth Road, Middlesbrough.
A male approached the boy and is reported to have punched him, causing him to fall to the floor, before continuing to strike him and also reportedly using a hammer.
The boy was taken to James Cook University Hospital with mild bruising to his face and a puncture wound behind his left ear. He was treated and discharged from hospital.
It is believed that the man in the image may be able to assist police with their enquiries and officers would appeal to anyone who may know his identity or recognise the distinctive clothing pictured, to contact them.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Middlesbrough CID on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 216988.
Independent charity Crimestoppers can also be contacted anonymously online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling 0800 555 111.
