Five people were arrested yesterday in two separate jobs by the force Proactive Team, supported by Middlesbrough neighbourhood officers, CCTV operators - and PD Bert!
After receiving concerns and complaints from local people, police forced entry to an address on Harford Street at 7.45pm and arrested three men (31, 45 and 59) and a woman, 26, on suspicion of supplying Class A drugs.
A quantity of suspected crack cocaine was recovered from the garden.
All four were all interviewed then bailed while further enquiries take place however the 31-year-old was detained to court for outstanding warrants from the London area.
Later, at around 11pm, plain clothed officers were supported on their targeted patrols in Newport by CCTV operators after they identified suspected drug dealing.
A 20-year-old man was stopped in Ayresome Street and arrested after a quantity of suspected crack cocaine was discovered.
On his arrival at the police station officers found further suspected drugs and an amount of cash.
The man remains in custody being questioned and enquiries are on-going.
