This week is International Control Room Week and Cleveland Police is taking this opportunity to celebrate the hard work and dedication of our Force Control Room Staff who work tirelessly around the clock throughout the year.
Force Control Room is the first point of contact between the public and the Force. If you have an emergency or a crime to report, this is the team which is here to help you first.
Head of Public Contact Operations, T/Superintendent Paul Richardson said: “Over 223,000 101 calls were called in to the Force last year and nearly 115,000 999 calls. This amounts to almost 340,000 calls. To say the team is busy is an understatement.
“Working in Force Control Room isn’t just about answering calls, they are under an immense amount of pressure to ensure the right decisions are made to keep people safe.
“They are the first people to deal with every incident which is called into the Force ranging from domestic abuse, rape, murder, assault and theft; these are just a few of the wide variety of crimes called into the team.
“Every year, the staff work every bank holiday, Christmas, New Year, and every holiday which many people have off to celebrate.
“International Control Room Week is a fantastic way to highlight the tremendous work of the team and to show the public exactly what they do and how hard they work.
“Please keep an eye on our website this week for daily pieces about Force Control Room to help us mark this international celebration.”
