A callous burglar who broke into a house in Stockton and stole gold jewellery from two elderly occupants has been jailed.
Leonard Stan, 29, of Brompton Street, Middlesbrough, entered an address on Barmpton Road in Billingham on Monday 21st August after seeing the occupants were in the garden.
Stan was soon apprehended by Stockton CID and charged with burglary. He appeared in court where he pleaded guilty to burglary along with an immigration offence.
On Thursday 5th October at Teesside Crown Court, Stan was handed a three year sentence plus automatic deportation.
Detective Constable Rhianna Wales said: “Leonard Stan sought to take advantage of his vulnerable victims while they were in the garden of their own home in the hours of daylight.
“This was an extremely upsetting incident for the occupants who felt violated by Stan’s actions that day. I’m pleased Stan has been held accountable for his actions and that justice has been served.”
