Reports of residential burglaries and theft in Middlesbrough reduced in September 2023 when compared to the same period in 2022.
A reduction in the number of residential burglaries of over 21% equates to 24 less victims of this crime, whilst theft offences reduced by 19.5% - equating to 130 fewer offences.
Over the last six months, the number of residential burglaries has reduced by 131 offences across Middlesbrough.
District Commander for Middlesbrough, Superintendent Marc Anderson, said: “Whilst we’re really pleased that the number of residential burglaries and theft have reduced, we’re not complacent and we want to ensure that those numbers continue to decline.
“Burglary in particular can have a very emotional and devastating impact upon victims and we’re committed to tackling offenders so that less people are affected by this awful crime.”
Anyone who may have information regarding incidents of burglary and theft can contact police on 101, or contact independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously, either online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling 0800 555 111.
