A 33-year-old man has been arrested after a report of a house fire on Dalcross Court, Hemlington, around 7.15am on Monday 2nd October.
The man, who was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life, remains in police custody at this time.
An earlier fire, also on Dalcross Court, which took place around 10:45pm on Wednesday 27th September is being linked to the second fire.
A 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life in connection with the fire on 27th September and he is currently on bail whilst enquiries continue.
Fortunately, no one was hurt as a result of either incident.
