Appeal after delivery driver is robbed, Middlesbrough.

Detectives from Middlesbrough CID are appealing for information or footage after a supermarket delivery driver was robbed at around 8.30pm last night (Monday 8th April).

The 31-year-old was carrying crates to the door of a property on Oxford Road in the town when two unknown men on bikes approached the van from the Whinney Banks/Acklam Road traffic lights and tried to take crates of alcohol from him.

When the driver tried to stop the men who are believed to be between 25 and 31 years old, he was punched in the face by one suspect then the other ran up to the victim pulling him to the ground where he punched and kicked him to the face.

The suspects then left the scene with two crates of cans of lager, riding down Oxford Road and onto Williams Avenue.

The delivery driver attended hospital for treatment to leg and facial injuries, and he was later released.

Officers believe a small red car was in the vicinity and the driver or any passengers in this vehicle may have witnessed what happened.  We would appeal directly to them to contact police, as well as anyone else with information or footage which could help our ongoing enquiries.
