At approximately 1.50pm on Thursday 18 April a 20-year-old man was attacked near Shakespeare Avenue.
He sustained a serious injury to his leg, believed to have been caused by a machete and is currently in a stable condition in hospital.
Enquiries are now underway to identify the attackers and officers are appealing for anyone who has information to get in touch.
Detective Sergeant Holly Angus, from Redcar and Cleveland Police’s CID, said: “We are in the early stages of the investigation and encouraging members of the public to come forward with information that could assist with our enquires.
“If you were in the area at the time and may have witnessed the attack take place or perhaps you have CCTV or dash cam footage that could be useful to us, please do get in touch.”
