Three arrests have been made in the last 24 hours as Cleveland Police Matrix team carry out proactive activity across the Cleveland area.
Around 2:50pm on Thursday 18th April, a call was received regarding a male possibly in possession of a weapon in the Hartlepool area.
Matrix team officers attended and a 22-year-old man was arrested and later charged with possession of a knife/blade in a public place and will appear at Teesside Magistrates Court on Monday 6th May.
Later the same day, around 11pm, officers on patrol in the Stockton area stopped a vehicle which was suspected of having no MOT. The driver failed a drug wipe test and was also found in possession of suspected drugs and a baseball bat.
A 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drug driving and possession of an offensive weapon. In custody the man allegedly assaulted a custody nurse and was further arrested on suspicion of assault. He remains in police custody at this time.
In the early hours of this morning, Friday 19th April, officers sighted a motorbike believed to be on false plates just before 1am. The bike made off from the officers and it was stopped, before the rider attempted to make off on foot.
Following a foot chase, the 23-year-old rider was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, driving without a licence and insurance and drug driving. The male remains in police custody.
