Cleveland Police is aware of video footage posted on social media showing part of an incident in Stockton on Sunday 28th April 2024.
Police responded to a report of a fight between two girls in Newham Grange Park around 5:45pm, where a large group of young people had gathered.
Following the arrest of a 15-year-old girl at the scene on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker, a number of other young people reportedly became abusive towards officers, resulting in the additional arrest of a 13-year-old boy on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker and public order. Both teenagers have now been bailed whilst enquiries continue.
All evidence will be assessed to fully understand the circumstances of the incident, the actions of everyone involved and the police response.
It is important in circumstances like this that we assess all evidence to understand the full context of what happened. A short clip posted on social media does not often capture the full picture.
We take all incidents where force is used extremely seriously and will provide a further update when appropriate to do so.
