Police are investigating a series of burglaries, thefts of vehicles and attempted thefts of vehicles in the Ingleby Barwick and Thornaby areas over recent days.
In the last two weeks there have been ten offences reported including burglary, vehicle interference and thefts of motor vehicles.
Officers arrested a 17-year-old male yesterday, Monday 8th April, after a suspected stolen vehicle failed to stop for police in the Thornaby area. The male was arrested on suspicion of burglary and driving offences. He was later bailed whilst enquiries continue.
Crime Prevention Team officers are reminding people to help deter thieves by taking simple crime prevention measures such as ensuring that doors and windows are secure, removing valuables from vehicles, moving car keys away from doors where potential thieves could reach them and also ensuring that properties are kept secure.

Chief Inspector Dan Heron from Stockton Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We are continuing with our enquiries into the reported crimes in the Ingleby Barwick and Thornaby areas. Our Neighbourhood Team colleagues are carrying out patrols and CID officers are working to gather information and intelligence which we can act upon to help find those responsible.
“We will be out in our engagement van in the area; delivering advice leaflets and speaking to residents. Please stop and speak to staff if you see them in your area, they will be happy to help.
“Whilst we continue with our enquiries, there are some key steps people can take to help deter thieves; double checking doors are locked, moving car key cars away from front doors and ensuring any CCTV cameras and video doorbells are working.”
Anyone who may have information in relation to these incidents or those believed to be responsible is asked to contact Cleveland Police on 101, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling 0800 555 111.
