Stockton NPTs were already on foot patrols in the area so liaising with local CCTV operators officers made their way to Stockton High Street, stop searched a man, and recovered the weapon.
The 45-year-old was arrested at the scene on suspicion of possession of a knife in a public place and he charged with this offence.
He was bailed with conditions not to enter Stockton town centre and is due to attend Teesside Magistrates’ Court at the end of this month.
