A hearing to determine the future of Middlesbrough nightclub The Empire, concluded yesterday afternoon (Thursday 25 April) with the Licensing Committee allowing the club to keep its licence.
The committee, consisting of representatives from Middlesbrough Council, agreed to the recommendations made by the responsible authorities (Cleveland Police, Middlesbrough Council and Public Health) and all parties agreed to a list of conditions to be adhered to.
The committee listened to representations from both sides and all parties have agreed to these conditions.
The club’s licence remains suspended until 16th May, giving the club time to ensure that these conditions are implemented.
Middlesbrough Council will publish a full report of the outcome and the required conditions in due course.
