Swift and co-ordinated police work meant a man was arrested less than two hours after officers visited the reporting victim, obtained CCTV, and identified a suspect.
Shortly after 10.30pm on Friday night (19th April) a householder in the Longlands area of Middlesbrough reported they had disturbed a man inside their address. The victim then noticed bank cards, cash and sentimental items had been stolen.
After an alert that a bank card had been used at a nearby petrol station officers immediately examined CCTV and attended the garage, locating and arresting a man at 00:20am.
Further CCTV enquiries led to the 30-year-old man being charged with burglary.
He attended Teesside Magistrates Court on Monday this week and was remanded as he was wanted on recall to prison.
