Earlier this week, four vehicles were seized and another three were issued with a seven-day removal notice in a multi-agency operation (on Monday 15th April).
The operation, which was carried out in the Hemlington area, saw Middlesbrough Neighbourhood Policing Team officers and local authority colleagues target uninsured and untaxed vehicles.
Environmental Neighbourhood Safety Team staff from Middlesbrough Council seized the four vehicles for being untaxed on a public road, with assistance from Middlesbrough Neighbourhood Policing Team officers.
A further three were issued with removal notices which ask the owner to contact the local authority within seven days. If no contact is made, subsequently the vehicle could be classed as abandoned and could be removed.
Sergeant Des Horton, from Middlesbrough Neighbourhood Team, said: “Operations like this one are carried out regularly across the Middlesbrough area to help crackdown on vehicle crime and ensure that our roads are safe for everyone using them.”
