18 off-road vehicles have been seized in Middlesbrough over the last two weeks.
Throughout the summer, neighbourhood teams have been working hard with Proactive Team officers in Middlesbrough to tackle off-road bikes in the town.
On Tuesday 20th August, officers located twelve motorbikes and three quad bikes in a container in Middlesbrough; four of which were confirmed to be stolen.
Two teenagers were arrested in connection with the incident.
Further off-road bikes were recovered including one in the Cargo Fleet Lane area after it was reportedly being ridden in an antisocial manner in Middlesbrough. It had been reported stolen in the Gateshead area.
Another two were recovered in the Netherfields and Brambles farm area with the assistance of the police drone.
Neighbourhood teams are continuing to act on community intelligence and respond to concerns raised by local residents.
Acting Chief Inspector Chris Hartshorne, from Middlesbrough Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “Off-road bikes are something which we consistently receive complaints about; as they can cause misery amongst our local communities.
“We continue to act on information coming in to us, and will seize any bikes which we believe are being used illegally and criminally in Middlesbrough. We continue to urge local people to come forward and pass over any information about illegal off-road bikes and where they are being stored.”
Anyone with information on where nuisance off-road vehicles are stored can call 101 or can provide this information to the charity Crimestoppers anonymously.
Information can also be reported online via the COPA app.
