Some great work by our CCTV operator colleagues at Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council led to a stolen motorbike being recovered!
A silver and blue motorbike had been taken during an incident near McDonald’s in Portrack Lane, Stockton at around 6pm on Wednesday 14th August when a group of males approached the owner before one of them punched him in the face, took the keys and rode off on the bike.
Yesterday, Monday 19th August, the CCTV operators reported they had seen a motorbike being ridden around the area by two people wearing balaclavas, and they’d tracked it to an address in South Bank.
Officers from Greater Eston NPT attended Redcar Road East and found the motorbike in the back garden.
Enquiries soon revealed that despite the bike now having been sprayed black, it was the one which had been stolen in Stockton days earlier.
It was therefore seized and recovered while enquiries continue.
If you have any information, doorbell, dashcam or cctv footage to help our investigation into the original theft of the motorbike, please contact Cleveland Police on the 101 number quoting ref 156374.
If you don’t want to speak to police you could pass information anonymously to www.crimestoppers-uk.org or phone them on 0800 555 111.
Finally, we urge our communities to tell us who is riding nuisance, illegal or stolen bikes and where they’re being stored, so we can take appropriate action.
You can report here: Tell us about | Cleveland Police or you can phone 101 at any time.
