The 42-year-old voluntarily visited Middlesbrough police station on Wednesday 28 August to be arrested on suspicion of threats to kill.
While in police custody, he was further arrested on suspicion of violent disorder.
Following questioning, the Crown Prosecution Service authorised charges for violent disorder, threatening a witness, threats to kill, criminal damage to a vehicle and do an act with intent to pervert the course of justice between 1 June 2024 and 27 July 2024.
He has been remanded in custody to appear at Teesside Magistrates Court on Friday 30 August.
The charges of threatening a witness, threats to kill and pervert the course of justice relate to a witness of a man who was killed in January 2024. The charge of violent disorder relates to the disorder in Middlesbrough on Sunday 4 August.
