56-year-old Neil Martin was stopped by officers from Middlesbrough Proactive Team on Granville Road in Middlesbrough at 11:45am on the morning of Sunday 1st December, after he was acting suspiciously.
When officers searched him, they found him in possession of a knife.
Martin, from Middlesbrough, was sentenced to 26 weeks in prison.
Sergeant John Sproson of Middlesbrough Proactive Team said: “We always take possession of a knife seriously; hand them in to our permanent amnesty bins in our stations anonymously.”
