A man who seriously injured a man in a stabbing in Grangetown has been sentenced today (Tuesday 3rd December) to 10 years in prison and an addition three on licence, with the Judge describing him as a dangerous offender.
Kai Wing, 21, from Dormanston was found guilty of grievous bodily harm in a trial at Teesside Crown Court last week after a jury cleared him of the more serious charge of attempted murder.
Wing assaulted his victim in the early hours of Sunday 31st March on Birchington Avenue in Grangetown. He sustained stab wounds and was taken to James Cook University Hospital.
DC Darren Lee, who investigated the case said: “The victim in this case thankfully survived the brutal attack but has been left with long term health issues, including loss of sensation in his right arm, scars and psychological trauma.
“Carrying a knife or a weapon will always end in serious injury, which is why Cleveland Police do all they can to prevent knives being carried on the streets of Teesside. We have night time patrols in hotspot areas to stop check anyone who may be carrying weapons.
“Please don’t carry bladed weapons; nobody wins, they only bring misery to everyone involved, their families and our communities.”
