55 drivers were stopped and tested as part of Cleveland Police’s Operation Limit campaign on Thursday evening, 19th December, leading to two arrests.
Whilst 53 drivers all passed their roadside tests, the operation carried out on Longlands Road led to one driver being arrested after a positive reading for cannabis and a second driver who reportedly drove off from officers after being requested to stop.
A short pursuit took place and the 38-year-old male driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of both alcohol and drugs, failing to stop and possession of a class A drug. He remains in police custody at this time.
Cleveland Police continues to support the national campaign targeting those who driver under the influence of alcohol or drugs in the run up to Christmas and through to the new year period.
