Officers are reminding Stockton residents to be vigilant after recent cold calling incidents.
The cold callers are claiming to be from Stockton Borough Council and have told them that they are due a £400 council tax rebate. The callers have then asked for personal details.
In some cases, the caller has used the victim’s surname but please be aware that these calls are not genuine. Please do not give any personal or bank details.
Anyone who may have information regarding these incidents, or anyone who thinks they may have been a victim of a cold caller, can call Cleveland Police on 101.
If you have been a victim of fraud or know someone who has, please report this to Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040.
