Two men (18 and 20) have been arrested and questioned on suspicion of stealing a car and on suspicion of driving offences after being located and detained by PD Kira.
Late on Thursday night, Matrix officers in Guisborough spotted a red Audi A1 which had been reported as stolen in a burglary in East Durham earlier this week.
They pursued the vehicle which was soon found abandoned in Skelton Ellers.
PD Kira and handler PC Whitehouse were then deployed, crossing a field, scaling a wall then following a dirt track whereupon the clever canine located two men hiding inside a van on the farmland.
Both were arrested on suspicion of burglary, theft of motor vehicle, failing to stop for police and driving whilst under the influence of drugs.
They were questioned and have been released on conditional bail whilst police enquiries continue.
