Officers are urging members of the public to remain vigilant following recent reports of scam callers pretending to be police officers or from a bank.
We’re reminding people that the police and the bank would NEVER ask you to withdraw or transfer cash or give money to a courier to pick up.
If you receive an unexpected call where someone asks for your bank details or for you to withdraw cash, put the phone down. Tell a trusted family member or friend and report the incident to police.
Officers would again appeal for anyone with older or vulnerable friends about courier fraud and to stress the messages as given by police.
If you believe you have been a victim of courier fraud, please report this to Cleveland Police on 101.
If you have been a victim of fraud or know someone who has, please report this to Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040.
