A man, aged 18 and from Middlesbrough, is currently in police custody having been detained in connection with the stabbing.
He was arrested at a property on Palmer Street on suspicion of wounding with intent.
A 19-year-old man was taken to James Cook University Hospital in a non-life-threatening condition after sustaining injuries to his face, neck and body.
The alleged attacker, described as having ginger hair, ran away from the area in the direction of Earls Court Road.
It occurred at approximately 5pm on Tuesday 13 February in Elm hurst Gardens.
Detectives have made an arrest however are still appealing for anyone who witnessed the assault, has CCTV or information that could assist with the investigation to contact them.
Detective Constable Megan Currie, from Middlesbrough CID, said: “Since the assault took place we have been conducting numerous enquiries and are keen to hear from anyone who has information, CCTV or doorbell footage that could help with our investigation to please get in touch.”
