Police were called to a report of a stabbing around 8:25pm on Norton High Street, near Boots chemist.
A 20-year-old man suffered minor wounds to his back and chest and was taken to Darlington Memorial Hospital for treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
An 18-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of section 18 GBH. He remains in police custody at this time.
