UPDATE - EOD officers attended the scene and deemed the object safe.
The cordon has been lifted and the area is open to the public. Thank you for your patience.
A cordon is currently in place on Redcar beach near the Stray café after a suspected explosive device was discovered in the sand.
Cleveland Police officers are currently in the area and are working closely with Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) officers who will assess the object.
Officers are urging members of the public to avoid the area whilst the incident is dealt with.
